St. Luke's University Health Network (SLUHN) is a non-profit, regional, fully integrated, nationally recognized network providing services at 14 campuses and more than 300 sites in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Schuylkill, Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, Monroe and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania and Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey.The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES St. Luke's University Health Network is currently seeking a 10-week summer '23 finance intern for our Reimbursement Department. The intern will be involved in month end Accounts Receivable valuation and analysis, projects related to optimizing and analyzing reimbursement, and analyzing managed care contracts. The intern will gain experience in the following areas as part of their training:

• The intern will assist with the department's accounting functions with month end close. This can include journal entry preparation and reconciliation, review, variance analysis and the tracking of various financial metrics such as days in AR and cash collections.
• Prepare various excel based reports and/or models with an emphasis on learning excel functions (pivot tables, formulas, charts, etc). Projects of focus will include hospital P&Ls by payer, payer modeling and analysis to aid in price transparency research, Medicaid & Medicare days tracking reports to observe our network hospitals' eligibility for government programs.
• Prepare and assist with various maintenance projects (contract labor, shadow bill locale reports, audit requests).
• Prepare ad-hoc research reports and presentations as appropriate.
  Applicants should have experience with Excel. Applicants should be able to complete projects from conception to execution and be successful working independently as well as collaborating with a team.
  The Internship will be in person at St. Luke's Center, Allentown, PA. The internship allows for unpaid leave to accommodate summer vacation plans. Optional local short-term, furnished housing is available for rent at Moravian University.
  
  PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Requires sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Frequently uses fingers for typing, data entry, etc. Frequent use of hands. Extensively uses mouse as a computer entry device. Uses upper extremities to rarely lift up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stoops, bends or reaches shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony. Spends considerable time viewing computer screen.
  EDUCATION Preferred: Currently enrolled or completed a BA/BS in Finance, Accounting or related field.
