Job Description and QualificationsAir Products and Chemicals,
Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an
immediate opening for a Supplier Quality Lead at our Corporate
Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania or in the Houston, TX
office.
The position will be responsible for planning and execution of
supplier management across all regions globally for equipment and
materials. In addition, this position interfaces closely with
Category sourcing, Engineering, Global Procurement and Supply Chain
to manage supplier risk and monitor, correct, and prevent supplier
performance issues. The selection & approval of best capable
suppliers and further management of supplier performance within the
Air Products 4S culture of Safety, Speed, Simplicity, &
Self-Confidence. This position reports to the Supplier Quality
Manager India and will be supporting the Global Strategic and
Corporate Sourcing organization. The position requires 30% to 50%
travelling to suppliers.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Supplier Quality Lead will be responsible for the
following:
- Ensure adherence to the Supplier qualification & approval
process including the development of supplier qualification plans,
review and analysis of supporting data, and recommendations on
supplier qualification status by means of EMOC approvals.
- Obtain supplier feedback in SCAR system. Review and evaluate
supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities
within the supply chain
- Facilitate internal / external BMS audits and ensure the
implementation of Supplier processes across all regions
- Monitor and assess supplier performance, improve supplier
communication, discuss existing or potential problems, review
deficiencies, review analytical data, and educate suppliers on Air
Products requirements.
- Participate in supplier development activities - evaluate and
make recommendations on potential new suppliers
- Drive supplier quality improvement programs.
- Monitor the Supplier Nonconformance process and escalate issues
that are not resolved in a timely manner. Support regional project
execution teams to drive the implementation of robust root cause
investigations and corrective/preventative actions.
- Support Engineering team and collaborate with suppliers on
process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
- Create and issue timely reports and/or presentations to the
organization,
- Takes accountability to create and execute solutions that
deliver desired results and "own it" in a Performance Driven
Culture as part of continuous improvement
- Monitor, communicate, and respond to changing market conditions
and business drivers to maximize leverage and minimize risk.

- Minimum technical understanding of industrial gases plants and
related equipment.

- Knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft office suite
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint, One Note) and collaborative tools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business and/or
Materials Management
- Certification or extensive knowledge & skill set in ISO
management systems & processes
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
- Preferable with working experience in Engineering, Procurement
and Construction (EPC), Industrial Gases or Petrochemicals /
Chemicals or Oil & Gas Industries.
- Worked with a multinational company in a matrix set up will be
an advantage
- Experience
- Minimum 8 years in Supplier management or other applicable
disciplines
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and reporting
skills
- Ability to work independently, with limited required direction
and guidance.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the
organization & countries.
- High energy with ability to manage multiple priorities in a
fast-paced environment.
