IT Lead Analyst Radiology & Cardiology

The Lead Application Analyst is responsible for enhancing, supporting, and maintaining an application(s) within the St. Lukes Health System. Responsibilities include coordination activities of a group providing maintenance and support tasks. Lead team members (up to a team of 12 Senior System Analysts and System Analysts) on optimization of the application through development of new functionality, testing and implementing scheduled vendor releases and system upgrades, and fixing system defects, in conjunction with an assigned PMO project manager.

The Lead Application Analyst will also serve as the resource for other application team members on technical and functional application analysis, defining system requirement and developing logical data models using best practices for build and configuration, maintenance, workflow and data integrity. He/she will ensure system changes follow change management procedures and protocols, create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications and develop, plan and execute testing for supported applications. He/she will communicate all necessary application changes, enhancements and procedures to all necessary departments.


  • Participate in and coordinate upgrades, new releases or changes to the assigned environment
  • Manage team members' daily tasks, keeping them accountable for work, providing frequent and yearly evaluations of staff.
  • Understand and can describe clinical/operational processes / needs and transform them into scope and/or requirements during the development of functionality and application process.
  • Generate and update appropriate documentation as per policy and procedure. Including requirements, specifications, change control, training and end user documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with an assigned PMO project manager to implement and manage projects and personnel through Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Ensure high level of quality service to the client.
  • Understands and applies process improvement, demand management and project management methodologies.
  • Provides ongoing maintenance, support and development to assigned applications.
  • Provides education, training and mentoring of team resources in an effort to collaborate, share knowledge and grow depth and experience of the team.
  • .Provides recommendations for evaluations of new technologies.
  • Will interact and collaborate with all levels of healthcare personnel; IT Management, Clinicians, Consultants and Administrators.
  • Level 3 support for Application related issues..
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology by attending appropriate continuing education training/seminars and reading related periodicals.
  • On-Call Support Required.
  • 1Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information
  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Requires crouching, kneeling, and lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds, pushing objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Requires hand and finger dexterity to perform repairs of small equipment and to use computer equipment. Seeing as it relates to general, near, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal and telephone conversations.


Reports to Manager/ Director


  1. Manage direct reports (Systems Analysts) to ensure responsive and effective application service and support is provided to the business community

  2. Oversee work assignment and staffing within Application Support / Applications Analysts group

  3. Partner across the team with other Leads Application Support / Applications Analysts to share best practices and build a community of practice

  4. Strong Customer Service Orientation and ability to follow through on issue resolution.



Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration, or equivalent work experience is required. Advanced Degree - (MBA, MPH, MPA) is preferred.


Epic experience and certification is required or must become certified in Epic applications



5 - 7 years experience in a Healthcare environment.

1 - 2 years of Resource or Project Management is required.

IT Applications Senior.

Additional experience in Ancillary, Clinical Applications, and HL7 is preferred.

Supervisory experience is preferred.

Project Management experience is a plus.

Application Experience:

MS Office is required

Experience with leading application solutions within a specified area and module (hospital, physician office, revenue cycle, business administrative) with Epic specific experience is highly preferred.

Hospital Operations Knowledge / Experience:

General, Radiology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physician Services, Laboratory, Patient Care Services and Patient Processing experience is required.


Full-time and may require additional hours with some nights and weekends required during heavy project load.

Travel may be required.
