Description Food Runner - Seasonal Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont, New York Seasonal Position | April 1 through October 31 Full-Time or Part-Time | In-Person Compensation: From $18.00 per hour | Non-Tipped Availability Required: Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and major holiday weekends based on business needs. About Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont Yacht Club has been a centerpiece of waterfront life on Long Island Sound since 1880. Located just 16 miles from New York City on a scenic harbor front campus, the Club is known for its sailing heritage, vibrant member community, and commitment to exceptional hospitality. Dining is an important part of life at the Club. During the spring and summer seasons, members gather throughout the property to enjoy meals in elegant dining rooms, relaxed waterfront patios, and seasonal outdoor venues overlooking the harbor. From casual lunches and family dinners to regattas, celebrations, and private events, the culinary and service teams work together to deliver memorable dining experiences. Food Runners are a key part of this service team. They help connect the kitchen and dining room while keeping service organized and efficient during busy dining periods. Position Summary The Seasonal Food Runner supports the dining team by delivering food from the kitchen to members’ tables quickly and accurately. This role helps ensure that meals are presented properly and served at the right time while assisting servers and the kitchen during busy service periods. Food Runners also help maintain service stations, assist with table clearing and resetting, and support the overall flow of the dining room. This position is a great opportunity for recent high school graduates, individuals seeking their first job, college students, teachers on summer break, or anyone interested in gaining hospitality experience in a professional dining environment. Key Responsibilities Food Delivery and Service Support Deliver food from the kitchen to dining tables promptly and accurately Confirm each dish matches the correct order before leaving the kitchen Communicate clearly with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service timing Assist servers with delivering multiple plates during busy service periods Dining Room Support Help clear tables and remove dishes during service Reset tables with clean glassware, silverware, and linens Assist with maintaining water service and bread service when needed Support the dining room team in preparing for the next seating Service Station Organization Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen expo and service stations Keep service areas stocked with supplies including napkins, linens, and glassware Ensure food leaving the kitchen maintains proper presentation and cleanliness Team and Event Support Attend pre-service meetings and daily service briefings Assist with preparation and breakdown of dining areas and special events Support banquet and event service when needed Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working as part of a team Ideal Background This position is a great fit for candidates who want to gain experience in hospitality and customer service. Qualifications Qualifications Friendly and professional communication skills Strong attention to detail and organization Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude and willingness to support team members Ability to follow service procedures and safety guidelines Food handler certification or willingness to obtain if required Schedule and Availability Food Runners must be available to work a flexible schedule based on the Club’s dining operations and seasonal events. Shifts may include: Day and evening service Weekends Major holidays and holiday weekends including Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day Schedules are determined based on business needs during the season.
