The surgery coordinator is the only full time FTE we have for this
office. This is the only person who will be present in the office
full time to assist the providers and patients daily. This position
will not be replaced by project access. This position is
responsible for all OR scheduling, Insurance PreCerts, Lab and
Diagnostic Scheduling and coordination as well as follow up with
physicians and patients as needed. This position will also assist
the surgeons in following up/contacting patients about their test
results as appropriate in a timely fashion. Performs general
medical assisting functions. Ascertains and records patient's vital
signs, height and weight. Assist with minor surgical procedures and
physical exams, prepares equipment for doctor or advanced
practitioner in outpatient office. Acts as and/or assists other
front office staff as required. Performs general clerical support
activities when not assisting outpatient office clinicians with
patients.
JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time
(up to 8 hours at a time). Continually uses fingers for patient
care, writing and handling patient charts. Routinely uses upper
extremities; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally push
cart with supplies up to 30 pounds. Occasionally push wheelchair
with patient weighing up to 325 pounds. Stoop, bend and reach above
shoulder level regularly. Hearing as it relates to normal
conversation and taking blood pressure readings. General vision,
near-vision, peripheral are all required.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of Medical Assistant program preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two years of clinical experience preferred.
