This position is responsible for providing leadership, management and coordination of quality pharmacy services for the St. Luke's health network system.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Directs the day to day efforts of pharmacy managers and staff in providing safe and effective medication use processes in the network.2. Responsible to oversee the design, coordinate, implement and maintain technology and information services in the network pharmacy departments.3. Responsible for the network pharmacy compliance with federal, state and regulatory agency regulations and standards of practice.4. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, physicians, vendors and customers.5. Attends and participates in Pharmacy and Therapeutics meetings and develops recommendations for "best practice pharmacy services" and formulary changes that meet market and environmental bench marks.6. Is responsible for the pharmacy department's completion of human resources activities7. Is responsible for coordinating pharmacy activities between hospital-related sites.8. Oversees controlled substance distribution systems throughout the network.9. Is responsible for departmental goals and objectives and investigating potential fiscal impact of such goals.10. Helps to facilitate the resolution of problems, situations or questions concerning medication therapy or logistics between Pharmacy and other hospital departments.11. Is responsible for developing network pharmacy departmental policies and procedures.12. Participates in quality improvement activities, medication error review, adverse drug reaction review and medication use evaluations.13. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.14. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.15. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).16. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of pharmacy resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.17. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.18. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to age of the patient treated (i.e., neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics). Completes and maintains hospital and departmental competencies.19. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. OTHER FUNCTIONS: 1. Will represents pharmacy services on designated committees or meetings as needed.2. Other related duties as assigned. PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for up to six hours per day and up to two consecutive hours. Standing and walking for up to four hours per day and up to thirty consecutive minutes. Frequent fingering and handling. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Occasionally stooping and bending. Rarely crouching and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequency. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision, and visual monotony. POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB RISKS: Exposure to contagious diseases.Chemical hazards of chemotherapy or other chemicals used in the pharmacy. Identified Risks, None Identified and/or Fit Tested Statement Which States That: Employees who work in patient care areas where they may have potential exposure to patients with suspected or proven tuberculosis (TB) must have the ability to wear a particulate respirator and be fit-tested in compliance with the current recommendations from the CDC (enforced by OSHA) or must provide physician documentation as to the inability to wear a particulate respirator. SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE: Not applicable MOST COMPLEX DUTY: May be subject to periods of demanding multiple task situations, performing activities in a limited time period while maintaining accuracy of many concurrent activities and/or dealing with other individuals who may be in a high stress mode. SUPERVISION: Received: Supervised by the Sr. Director of Network OperationsGiven: Pharmacy campus managers, clinical coordinator(s), office support personnel. Indirect support/supervision to pharmacists, technicians, interns, and/or volunteers. COMMUNICATIONS: Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS(MINIMUM) EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science Pharmacy or Doctor of PharmacyResidency Experience PreferredCurrent Pennsylvania Pharmacy License TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 5 years hospital/institutional pharmacy management experience.Must have significant knowledge and experience in performance improvement/Quality improvement principles.Must have time management skills and the flexibility to adapt to changing work demands. EQUIPMENT USED: A working knowledge and understanding of computer software (e.g. WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)A working knowledge of equipment used in the course of good pharmacy practice. WORK SCHEDULE: Day shift - Monday through Friday. Other shifts/days/time as needed for meeting obligations or other functions as appropriate.
