We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead, work alongside and develop a team of highly skilled Product Development Engineers in the design of high-speed cryogenic turbomachinery in Allentown, PA. You and your team are responsible for designing and developing competitive, new equipment offerings and technologies and world-class machinery solutions. You will be responsible for the design and development of proprietary, high-speed, rotating machinery and machinery support systems to satisfy the needs of both our internal business areas and our external customers.     Position Responsibilities Include:




    • Spend approximately seventy five percent (75%) of time executing product development engineering and design activities
    • Spend approximately twenty five percent (25%) leading a team of 4 - 6 product development engineers
    • Uphold the Rotoflow--- safety philosophy for both the workplace and products.
    • Design and development of new products or improvement of existing products so that they meet or exceed customers' expectations, are market competitive, and exhibit high reliability and performance.
    • Own product design and system integration and perform engineering support through all stages including early concept, development, layout, detailed design, review, prototype, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and service.
    • Perform process design, mechanical design, lubricating and seal gas system design, equipment layout, structural analysis and selection of components to be integrated into equipment packages.
    • Lead or participate in both technology (R&D) efforts associated with the design of new equipment offerings and in the stage gate process during the development of new products or technologies.
    • Perform detailed mechanical analysis (rotordynamics, stress, resonant frequency, thermal, etc.) of proprietary machinery.
    • Provide technical support to proposal development regarding the creation of bids and proposals for supply of equipment.
    • Work with suppliers to integrate new technologies and products equipment offerings.
    • Maintain effective relationships with all work team members, suppliers, and customers.
    • Support continuous improvement.
    • Execute development programs within budget and schedule requirements.


      Desired proficiencies and qualifications:




      • BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
      • Experience: 10+ years turbomachinery or rotating machinery
      • Experience: 5+ years leading engineers in a design role a plus
      • R&D or product development experience
      • Strong analytical skills
      • Demonstrate extensive mechanical aptitude
      • Propensity for innovation and creation of novel solutions
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Strong organization, leadership and time management skills
      • Effective team building and teamwork skills
      • Ability to work with engineers, technicians, suppliers in shop, office, and field environments
      • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
      • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customer interface meetings, field testing of prototypes, and supplier visits. Estimated average annual travel approximately 5% and most trips less than one-week duration.
      • High speed rotating machinery design
      • 2D and 3D CAD experience
      • FEA experience
      • Formal Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) training and experience
      • Rotordynamic torsional and lateral analysis experience
      • Fluid film bearing, magnetic bearing, gas bearing, rolling element bearing design experience
      • Design and analysis of gearing or gearbox, and high speed, permanent magnet motors/generators
      • Turning, milling, welding or additive manufacturing experience
      • Hydraulic design, piping design, structural design, manufacturing, machine shop or welding experience
      • Acoustic analysis and design
      • MicroStation, SolidWorks, SAP and Microsoft Office experience
      • Database design
      • Java, VB, C, C#, Python or similar programming experience
      • SAP and MRP system experience

        Relocation is available. Potential for remote working locations in Houston or Los Angeles is also available to highly qualified candidates.
