Why This Role Matters: This is a senior-level position based in NYC
within SWA's Building Operations, Decarbonization & Efficiency
(BODE) team. The mission of this role is to drive operational
efficiency and sustainability through implementation of energy
conservation measures and building system optimization. By
conducting energy audits, performing systematic commissioning and
executing HVAC testing, this role ensures optimal building
performance while reducing energy consumption and associated costs,
ultimately contributing to SWA's environmental stewardship goals
and bottom-line performance. By conducting comprehensive energy and
decarbonization assessments and providing systematic commissioning
services. This senior-level position within our Building
Operations, Decarbonization & Efficiency team provides solutions to
our clients' energy and carbon reductions goals.
The proposed annual salary range for this position is $85,000 -
$130,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary may
vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.

Responsibilities:
- - - -Conduct decarbonization feasibility studies, advanced energy
audits and assessments, retrofit implementation, and
retro-commissioning for energy savings and performance improvements
in existing buildings.

- - - -Lead and manage commissioning projects for both new
construction and retrofits. Responsibilities include reviewing
submittals and codes, developing testing plans, inspecting building
system installations, conducting central plant testing, analyzing
performance trends, and delivering clear technical and
non-technical reports to ensure program compliance and support
owner decision-making.

- - - -Lead the development and implementation of innovative energy
systems and projects, ensuring they meet efficiency, cost, and
environmental standards.

- - - -Provide innovative solutions to technical challenges.

- - - -Inspect retrofits/upgrades of building equipment with a
focus on electrification and heat pump technologies.

- - - -Review construction documents and provide recommendations to
improve indoor air quality, energy efficiency, constructability,
and building operations.

- - - -Train and support entry and mid-level energy engineers.

- - - -Provide and/or facilitate technical training for building
industry professionals.

- - - -Validate complex calculations, provide technical oversight
on applications, and lead coordination with program administrators
to ensure compliance and quality.

- - - -A bachelor's degree in engineering field or related science
degree.

- - - -5+ years of relevant experience working with HVAC systems in
large multi-family or commercial buildings.

- - - -Experience conducting field inspections related to
mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.

- - - -Demonstrate deep expertise in HVAC systems and emerging
high-performance technologies.

- - - -Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- - - -Skills:
- - - -Evaluate and optimize HVAC and mechanical systems in large
multi-family or commercial buildings by testing performance.

- - - -Ability to execute comprehensive energy assessments,
feasibility studies, retro-commissioning evaluations and analyses
to identify efficiency opportunities and sustainable improvement
strategies.

- - - -Perform building energy calculations to predict, analyze and
optimize building energy consumption patterns for energy efficiency
improvements.

- - - -Success leading and delivering multiple small to
medium-sized projects through stakeholder engagement, and team
coordination to ensure successful outcomes.

- - - -Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.
- - - -Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use
hands to type, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The
employee frequently is required to climb stairs, use elevators and
exterior construction hoists, and may be exposed to cold and hot
interior and exterior temperatures for extended periods of time
(when in the field).
Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight travel may be required
(Less than 10%). Frequent local field visits in the Metro area will
be necessary (approximately 40-50%).
Working Environment: Recent hires may be required to work in-office
five days per week during onboarding, with potential for a flexible
schedule after necessary training and supervisor approval; all team
members are generally expected in the office at least three days
per week, with flexibility based on job duties and site work.
