Start (EHS) is an early childhood education program that works to
improve maternal and child health, school readiness, parenting
skills, and family well-being through the collaborative partnership
between families, educators and community providers.*Job
Summary*MCC seeks *Center-based (in-person) *Early Head Start (EHS)
Teachers for our South Philadelphia location. The EHS Teacher
develops early learning-focused, developmentally appropriate and
curriculum-based lesson plans for infants and toddlers *in-person*
in a classroom setting. The EHS Teacher implements the education
program as outlined in both the adopted curriculum and the Head
Start Performance Standards. The EHS Teacher addresses individual
needs of children in their care and provide nurturing,
language-rich, and engaging learning experiences.*Essential
Functions** Obtains and maintains in good standing all required
credentials, certifications and training deemed necessary to
perform their job duties, such as, but not limited to,
Infant/Toddler CDA credential and First Aid/CPR License.* Attends
orientation, in-service and ongoing training sessions on child
health and welfare, early learning, child abuse, nutrition,
parenting, infant, family support issues, and other training as
assigned/recommended by their supervisor or EHS Coordinator* Plans
weekly lessons that include activities to support child's
individual learning and progress towards school readiness.*
Communicates daily with parents and staff regarding educational
strengths and/or concerns of enrolled children as needed* Conducts
children's assessments and screenings to determine strengths and
areas of need on a timely basis (according to Head Start
Performance Standards) and uses this information to set goals in
collaboration with the family* Conducts bi-annual home visits and
parent/teacher conferences, additional as needed* Maintains the
cleanliness and safety of the classroom furniture and equipment*
Maintains ratios in classrooms at all times.*Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities** Ability to work with parents in the community and other
volunteers* Understanding of diverse family dynamics and cultural
differences with the ability to work with and empower families*
Knowledge of basic classroom management procedures* Effective and
accurate documentation of lesson plans, observations and daily
schedules* Ability to operate a computer and use a variety of
common software programs including MS Office Suite and customized
databases*Experience, Education and Licensure**Required** CDA
Credential *OR* Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
(ECE) or related field of study* At least 6 months experience
working with infants and toddlers*Preferred** Infant/Toddler CDA
Credential *OR* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
(ECE) or related field of study with at least 18 credits in
Infant/Toddler Development* 1+ year's experience working with
infants and toddlersJob Type: Full-timePay: $37,000.00 $41,000.00
