Job Description Job Description Job Title: Building Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Building Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties and facilities. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable building operations while delivering superior customer service. Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, and grounds equipment. Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices. Perform installation and modification of building equipment and systems. Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, and wallpaper, and perform painting of walls, piping, floors, and equipment. Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventive maintenance. Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and fire pumps. Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests. Perform carpentry, snow removal, and general handyman tasks as needed. Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations. Utilize technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems. Maintain a neat and professional appearance per company standards. Work Environment Work at the Hershey Center for Applied Research daily, managing the entire building, including janitorial and grounds of the immediate building/sidewalk. The role requires working independently, so confidence and effective communication with clients are essential. The position is Monday through Friday, with hours from 7am/8am to 4pm/5pm, and includes being on call for emergencies around working hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hummelstown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
